who knew that ever paid off?

mliaverage:

Today, my new boss introduced “the grandma rule.” We aren’t allowed to say or do anything we wouldn’t do infront of our grandmothers. My grandma is deaf, blind in one eye, and constantly drunk. I win. MLIA

i always knew they were messing with our heads

mliaverage:

Today I was stuck in a long line of slow moving cars with the neighboring lane wide open. Frustrated I changed lanes and sped up. At the front of the line was a police car driving deliberately below the speed limit. Everyone was too scared of getting pulled over to pass him. He gave me a thumbs up as I passed. MLIA

summer gives way to winter

There is a chill in my bones, a wind nipping at my nose and I have never felt so alive.

I’ve been driving with the windows down just to breathe in the winter air. It tastes clear and sharp today.

Fleet foxes and a warm scarf, a thermos of fresh-roasted coffee ground this morning, and a load of lyrical inspiration..today will be a good day.

Hello winter, I have missed your teeth.

Hanif Shahzad is arguably one of the most prolific artists in Pakistan, now that some of the others have pegged down from natural causes. His journey of discovery started in 1986, when he bagged first prize in a competition at the Karachi School of Art. After that he never looked back, coming up with a major exhibition almost every year.

the week of music

I set a new personal record for the most legitimate concerts in a week this past week, and it was glorious.

First: August Burns Red and company last saturday, the 3rd, with old friends.

It was full of ridiculous, near death experiences in the mosh pit,  and crowdsurfing like mad. I love the masquerade. Also, we watched a drug deal go down at the gas station afterwords..twas a good night.

Regina Spektor on Tuesday-Regina threw down one of my top two shows ever; she’s utterly amazing. The crowd was kind of annoying: the smoking in my face douchebag, the screaming banshee, and the drunk guys attempting to make conversation. In spite of it all, she made it totally worthwhile. And jupiter one wasn’t half bad either! (video!)

Relient K/Copeland/Barcelona this past saturday, the 10th.-This one makes my other top of the two. Barcelona was pretty brilliant; Copeland a little less so, surprisingly, and Relient K makes my life as usual. Something about the memories they were the soundtrack for gets me every time..and plus, they’re pretty brilliant musicians. It was a party, and a good end to the week. (video and better video!)

$3.50 water, bad actors, a steel drum, and good music.
